Homework Assistance Program

2018-2019 School Year

The Homework Assistance Program began in the 2004–2005 school year and has successfully been helping students with homework organization and task completion since its inception. Students in grades 1–5 work collaboratively with La Jolla Elementary teachers and other students at their grade level at an approximate 10:1 ratio.

This program offers:

  • La Jolla Elementary teachers at each grade level assisting students in a small group setting
  • The convenience of having students attend a program on site.
  • Someone different for the child to work with on his/her homework and a well-deserved break for mom and dad!

Program specifics:

  • Mondays and Thursdays (parents may sign up children for one or two days per week).  Enroll online at http://www.friendsofljes.org/after-school-programs
  • Fees: $12 for one session per week or $24 for two sessions per week.
  • Snacks: A snack and recess are provided from 2:45-3:00pm.
  • Homework assistance is provided from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Please pick up your child promptly at 4:00 in front of the school office or let us know if your child should be dismissed to the YMCA. Students may not be picked up on Girard and must be picked up at the Marine Street entrance.
  • Payments: Payments should be made prior to the first week of each session. To discontinue the program or change the number of days your child attends, please email Aimee Lansky (aimee.lansky@gmail.com).

The dates for the 2018-2019  school year are as follows (Mondays and Thursdays).

Session 1-payment due August 31st – $120 1x/week or $240 2x/week
September: 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27
October: 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29
November: 1, 5, 8, 26*
*(no sessions parent conference week November 12)

Session 2-payment due November 27 – $120 for Mondays; $160 for Thursdays

December: 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20
January: 7, 10, 14, 17, 24, 28, 31
February: 4, 7, 1, 14, 21, 25, 28
March: 4, 7

Session 3-payment due March 4th – $120 for Mondays; $120 for Thursdays

April: 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29
May: 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 30
June: 3
*(no sessions parent conference week March 18)

The school office closes for the day at 4:00pm.  Students must be picked up promptly at the Marine Street entrance or let us know if they should be dismissed to the YMCA.  Students may not be picked up on Girard.  Failure to comply may result in removal from the Program.  You may enroll online at https://campscui.active.com/orgs/LJESPTOInc

Please be advised that there are no refunds for unattended sessions.

*Some scholarships are available for students who are recommended by their teachers and not able to pay the full cost of the Program.
